Registered biodiversity gain sites from the public Biodiversity Gain Site Register. Use the filter to show sites with remaining registered habitat, hedgerow or watercourse extent.
Search a UK postcode or place name to find the nearest available gain sites.
Filtering is based on remaining registered area/length: proposed extent minus allocated extent. Only sites with positive remaining area/length for the selected habitat are displayed.
Search a location or click anywhere on the map to find the nearest available gain sites. Fully allocated sites are excluded from nearest-site results.

Red markers indicate sites with no remaining registered habitat availability shown in the dashboard data. These sites are shown on the unfiltered map for completeness, but are excluded from habitat filters and nearest-site search results.
Map locations are based on enriched register data derived from published grid references and should be interpreted as indicative site locations.
These estimates apply indicative biodiversity unit pricing to allocated biodiversity units reported in the Biodiversity Gain Site Register. Values are shown as indicative ranges, with average scenarios included for habitat and total allocated value. Remaining unit availability and remaining market value are not calculated.

Source: Biodiversity Units UK, July 2026. Values are indicative only and are calculated from allocated biodiversity units reported on the Biodiversity Gain Site Register using indicative unit pricing scenarios by broad unit category. Where an allocation contains multiple habitat components, units are not apportioned between habitat types because the register does not provide sufficient information. Remaining unit availability and remaining market value are not calculated.
Area/length utilisation by broad habitat group. This shows which broad habitat groups have the highest proportion of registered area or length already allocated.

Habitat groups are broad habitat categories derived from habitat descriptions and habitat type fields in the public register data. The utilisation bar shows the proportion of registered area or length already allocated. Allocated biodiversity units are reported separately by unit category because allocation unit values can relate to multiple habitat components and cannot be reliably apportioned to individual habitat groups. Other Habitat includes records that could not be confidently assigned to a main broad habitat category from the available description.
Allocation activity is based on allocation events identified in EAD Ecology's tracked register data. Recent-period figures are treated as indicative register activity rather than confirmed allocation completion dates.
LNRS areas ranked by observed allocation activity from registered gain sites located within each LNRS area, alongside registered habitat supply utilisation. This reflects where registered BNG supply is being allocated from, not necessarily where the associated development projects are located.

LNRS is assigned from the registered gain site location. Allocation records may relate to development projects in different planning authority areas, so results should be interpreted as gain-site supply market activity rather than development demand by LNRS.

Recent allocations show the top 10 allocation events first seen in the tracked register data within the last 30 days, ranked by total allocated biodiversity units. Habitat, hedgerow and watercourse values include all active rows within each allocation event.
